Program Description
The demand for architectural, engineering, and geomatics technologists and specialists will increase in the coming years as the Alberta economy continues to improve. This will spur increased activity across the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction sector providing a need for newly trained employees in all of the associated industries of this sector. Students in the Engineering Design & Geospatial Technologies dual-credit program will gain hands-on skills and foundational knowledge in areas related to Digital Drafting Fundamentals, concrete production and quality and engineering plans, surveying and mapping. Students will earn up to 7.5 SAIT credits through this program and will receive course credit in three SAIT courses. Upon high school completion, credit earned in this dual-credit program may be applied towards a SAIT two year diploma in the Engineering Design, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or Geomatics Engineering Technology programs. Admission Requirements
There are no formal admission requirements for this program. However, the student who may find the most success in this dual-credit program will need to have strong math and science skills. Students should be on track to complete: - Math 30-1 or Math 30-2 with at least a 50%;
- English Language Arts 30 (30 - 1 or 30 - 2) with at least a 50%; and
- Science 30 or Physics 20 with at least 60%.
