First Class Power Engineering

Program Description


Successful completion of this course may provide students with up to 12 months credit in lieu of the 36 months operating experience in a power plant required to write the Provincial Government exam in Alberta. The price for distance courses does not include the cost of textbooks.

Note: Alberta Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety will accept satisfactory completion of Part A of the First Class course as the educational requirements necessary for individuals to qualify to take their Part A First Class Examinations. If outside of Alberta, you must check with your local boiler’s branch prior to taking this course. For more information about the distance learning program, please email distance.education@sait.ca .

Program Overview


Credentials


After successfully completing this program, learners will receive a SAIT Certificate of Achievement.

Progression


You have up to five years to complete all certificate courses. You must meet the graduation requirements as they exist at the time you register for your first course (see AC.3.1.1 Grading and Progression).

Admission Requirements


There are no entrance requirements for this program. You can begin registering for courses anytime by clicking a course name or calling 403.284.7248. Once you have registered for at least one course and have a SAIT student ID number, consider filling out and submitting the Program Declaration Form to the Office of the Registrar. Contact information for the Office of the Registrar is located in the upper corner of the form.
