Applied Project Management

Program Description


Explore the key areas of project management including human resources, communications, cost, quality control, procurement and risk management. You can apply the program’s required courses towards a Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential or the Gold Seal of the Canadian Construction Association.

SAIT is a Global Registered Educational Provider of project management training approved by PMI®. Our program is delivered in a flexible way to meet the needs of today’s busy professionals.

We take a practical approach using real-world case studies to hone your skills in overseeing complex projects. You will learn how to address key areas of project management, including human resources, communication, time integration, cost, quality and risk procurement.

This program starts with a basic introduction of the fundamental principles of project management, and teaches you the skills and knowledge required to successfully take a project from concept to completion. You will master Microsoft Project - a software application designed to assist project managers in developing plans, assigning resources, tracking progress, managing budgets and analyzing workloads.

Project managers are in demand in a variety of sectors - managing projects in health care, telecommunications, oil and gas, construction and more.

Laddering


We want you to succeed in your career as a project manager. These courses will help prepare you for professional certifications from PMI® including the Project Management Professional (PMP®) and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®). Learn more about certifications from PMI®.

Credentials


After successfully completing this program, learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement in Applied Project Management.

Accreditation


Our courses meet the requirements of PMI and follow their outlines for certification.

Job Grant


Note: These courses are eligible for the Canada-Alberta Job Grant.

Progression


You have up to five years to complete all certificate courses. You must meet the graduation requirements as they exist at the time you register for your first course (see AC.3.1.1 Grading and Progression).

Admission Requirements


There are no entrance requirements for this program. You can begin registering for courses anytime by clicking a course name or calling 403.284.7248. Once you have registered for at least one course and have a SAIT student ID number, consider filling out and submitting the Program Declaration Form to the Office of the Registrar. Contact information for the Office of the Registrar is located in the upper corner of the form.

Program Outline


Our project management courses are available through our Corporate Training department in 1-5 day seminars, as well as Distance Education (online). Numerous start dates are available and continually added throughout the year.

Online registration closes about one week before the course start date. You can register up to one business day before the start date by calling 403.284.7248 or 1.877.284.7248. Courses do fill up, so it is recommended you register early.

Required


We recommend you take the following courses in the order presented, although this is not mandatory.


To complete the required courses there are three choices and they are:

1. Complete BCPT 011, PROJ 001, PROJ 002, PROJ 003, PROJ 004, PROJ 005 and RSMG 102 courses.

OR
2. Complete BCPT 174, BCPT 175, PROJ 150, PROJ 001, PROJ 002, PROJ 003, PROJ 004, PROJ 005 and RSMG 102 courses.

OR
3. Complete BCMP 180, PROJ 150, PROJ 001, PROJ 002, PROJ 003, PROJ 004, PROJ 005 and RSMG 102 courses.

Electives


A mimimum of 1 course from list A and 2 courses from list B are required. You may choose to take an additional course from list B in place of a course from list A.

Corporate Training
