Professional Respiratory Educator

Program Description


The Professional Respiratory Educator program prepares students to challenge the Canadian Network for Respiratory Care (CNRC) Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) exam. Prevalence, pathophysiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and tobacco use disorder will be covered. Emphasis will also be placed on techniques and strategies for educating clients experiencing these three common conditions.

Graduates of this program will receive a SAIT Professional Respiratory Educator Certificate of Completion.

Graduates of this program are eligible to challenge the Canadian Network for Respiratory Care (CNRC) Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) exam.

Accreditation


This program is recognized by the Canadian Network for Respiratory Care (CNRC) as meeting the requirements for eligibility to challenge the CNRC Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) exam.

Professional Designations and Certifications


Progression


You have up to five years to complete all certificate courses. You must meet the graduation requirements as they exist at the time you register for your first course (see AC.3.1.1 Grading and Progression).

Admission Requirements


Admission requires applicants to possess a degree or diploma from a Canadian Network for Respiratory Care (CNRC) recognized healthcare profession.
